We also have some resources for people. So, I decided to edit the post and give you some good resources. We have blogs, podcasts, downloads and several other things that can be accessed via the menu just underneath the banner.
For a lot on how to do various things on the board, please visit our
Site and Technical Help Desk forums. You can learn how to post, how to create your own blog (any member can have one), and many other things besides.
We also have an Archives of the previous version of our boards - you can't add anything but there is a lot of material to read if you wish. (Total posts 155653 | Total topics 25074 ). We closed the old version of the boards due to database issues and built a new one.

Our Private Message system allows you to PM multiple people - either by individual user name or by categories (Administrators, News Team, Blog Team, Moderators, et cetera.)
If you have any questions, please feel to contact an administrator (someone whose name here appears in orange), a moderator (name appears in green) or Sensischolar (his name is purple, but he is one of our administrators.) Or you can post your question on the boards.
As for ourselves, we believe in free speech and the members have a say in what we do. Our members developed our rules, and we voted on it. (Indeed, if there are problems, members vote to take action - but this has seldom happened. We try to encourage people to solve their own disputes, or work with others to help resolve th em. Plus, in your user control panel, you can list some members as friends to more easily PM and whom you can see if they are online when you start a PM, or as foes whom you can put on ignore.)
We hope that you will chose to be active here. There are a number of ways to be active - you can post on the boards, create a blog, join in on podcasts or join the News Team and work on the
Daily Headlines - which we post on the board, put a teaser on the front of the site, and mail out to some great progressive hosts. (I am heading up the News Team currently, and would love to see some volunteers.) If the Unfiltered News Network is a community, it is because we make it so.
Yes, we do have some
rules here but we have learned to avoid the problems of moderator cliques by putting the power in the hands of ALL our members. Our members wrote the rules, voted on the rules, and can determine if someone has violated the rules - with some safeguards to make sure everyone gets a fair hearing. We may disagree at times on issues, but we have seldom had to invoke the rules. (We should be mature enough to realize that we can't agree on everything, but we can still respect each other's opinions or the right of a person to hold an opinion.) We believe in running a progressive board with progressive values, and believe that empowering our members is a part of living what we believe.
So, take some time to explore the site, and make yourselves at home. I hope that you will like it here and be an active part of the Unfiltered News Network.
